At this time (late April through to late August) the hunters go out into the 20,000 tree trufferie and search for the iconic black Perigord truffle that foodies crave.
To avoid disappointment it is recommended that you book ahead and inquire about arrangements for a tour. Be there to see one of our dogs locate some of these gems which you will have the opportunity to buy and take with you. Other product more suited to travel is also on offer.
truffle hunting tour
Paying guests are taken on a truffle hunt with one of the company dogs when the hunting season is in progress. Truffles are located and the mature ones dug up and collected. The biology of this unique fungus is explained as you are taken through the extensive rows of some 20,000 oak trees stretching out before you. If the rows were set end-to -end they would extend for over 60 kilometres. The tour then goes into the grading shed where the processing of the black truffle is covered in detail. Guests then have a choice of natural product which they can purchase to take with them.
